The Bellatrix release
Details about this week's technical release
This Thursday (February 4, ~00:00 UTC) an upgrade is being deployed with a major protocol improvement. During this time, which is expected to take up to several hours, users may be unable to interact with the protocol, including using Staking, Mintr, Kwenta, or Synthetix.Exchange, and transferring SNX or Synths.
Here's what is included in this release:
- SIP-101: New crypto Synths — This SIP involves adding several new cryptocurrency Synths and their corresponding Inverse Synths for the following assets: AAVE (AAVE), Uniswap (UNI), Yearn (YFI), Polkadot (DOT), REN (REN), Compound (COMP).
- SIP-108: Shorting rewards — SIP-108 incentivises users with SNX rewards from the synthetixDAO to open shorts against sBTC and sETH.
- SIP-109: Add Synth exchange suspension support — This SIP adds support for the restriction of specific Synth exchanges during market closures without preventing them from being transferred.
- (Added Feb. 4) SIP-95: Delist s/iBCH — In November 2020 this SIP was written ahead of a potentially contentious BCH fork. It was approved via governance but it has taken until now to be ready to deploy. Now that the fork no longer seems contentious, it was proposed via the community governances process again that the delisting be abandoned, but failed to reach consensus, so the delisting will go ahead.
